Introducing Competitions Amongst Employees - November 10, 2007
Webgreeter.com has decided to introduce competitions amongst employees to step up their morale and overall productivity by a notch. The intention is to infuse the work place with competitiveness and team spirit, thereby increasing efficiency and producing results.
For this purpose, Webgreeter.com has devised an excellent, workable exercise. What simply happens is that employees are divided into teams of equal numbers and each team is headed by a supervisor, who is responsible for the team’s performance. The teams are given assignments to be completed within a set deadline. This scheme is surprisingly effective, since employees get to know each other personally, form closer bonds and work towards a common goal. This spirit also serves them later in the work place since they learn to work as a single, functional unit. Most importantly, through these competitions, employees invariably learn to depend on each other.
Team work means sharing responsibilities as well as rewards equally with each other, regardless of whether all members put in the same amount of effort or not. It means cooperating with everyone and ensuring that no one is left behind in any way, and this is precisely the attitude that we, at webgreeter.com, aim to cultivate in our employees by holding healthy competitions.
Through this exercise, Webgreeter.com does not only seek to build team spirit but also create a competitive atmosphere, which is ideal for any work place. The employees are constantly driven to outperform the others, thereby enhancing their craft and increasing overall productivity. Inculcating the idea of team spirit in employees makes for healthy working relationships and increased efficiency as competitiveness engenders increased motivation in employees and this leads to extraordinary performance. The element of competitiveness is therefore central to any organization.
